Course structure

Built from the eHawk Academy course Certified fiber-optic training (CFOT).

Theory before lab work, then supervised hands-on practice, evaluation, safety, documentation, and the official FOA CFOT examination.

  1. Live online theory

    25 hrs

    Week 1 · five days

    Instructor-led sessions cover fundamentals, fibers and cables, components, installation practices, testing, troubleshooting, and standards.

  2. Hands-on laboratory

    19 hrs

    Week 2 · three days

    Supervised lab days focus on cable preparation, fusion splicing, fiber management, connector installation, OLTS testing, and OTDR troubleshooting.

  3. Review and FOA examination

    2 hrs

    Week 2 · final block

    The final lab sequence includes documentation review, course review, and the official FOA CFOT certification examination.

FOA CFOT certification pathway

A foundation course for telecom and data center infrastructure.

Course EGI-FOT 101 combines 25 hours of live online theory with 19 hours of supervised laboratory work, course review, and the official FOA CFOT certification examination. The schedule uses daily morning and afternoon time blocks: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Students study fiber fundamentals, cable construction, components, installation practices, testing, troubleshooting, safety, documentation, and standards before completing in-person lab work in cable preparation, fusion splicing, connector installation, OLTS testing, OTDR testing, and final documentation.

  • Foundational course in the ADCIM certification pathway.
  • No prior fiber experience is required.
  • Students work in permanent two-person lab teams.
  • Safety, workmanship, testing, and documentation are evaluated.
